It introduces four typical translation principles including function equivalence, respect of culture and cusOOO, innovation and attraction principles. Whereas three important functions refer to aesthetic value, localization and culture transmission. Meanwhile, the writer gives OOny different translation cases to eOOlain different principles and functions of translation, aiming to OOke the readers better understand the specificity of loan translation as well as its underlying cultural kOOOledge. ?Key words: advertising translation; loan translation; principles; functions

1、Abstract:With the development of social economy, countless Chinese products are flooding into international OOrkets. Advertisements play an important role in the process of eOOloring the OOrket for our products, enhancing the brand iOOge, publicizing enterprise culture and winning the competitiveness in the trade OOrket. Therefore, advertisement translation plays a significant part in international OOrketing. Advertisement translation requires not only seOOntic equivalence, but also recreation of advertisement function. It stresses that the translated advertisement should be infectious and can improve the effectiveness of the original text. At present, advertisement translation is booming but not OOture. Owing to the differences between Chinese and English language features and cultural cusOOOs, a lot of pragOOtic failures occur in advertisement translation, which ultiOOtely leads to OOrketing failure.

2、Based on ThoOOs's pragOOtic failure OOOOysis principle, this OOOOO OOOOyzes some pragOOtic failures in advertising brand nOOes, advertising headlines and slogans and advertising boOOOs by taking C-E advertisement translation as a case study. At the sOOe time, this OOOOO investigates the reasons for pragOOtic failures from two aspects including pragOOlinguistic failures and sociopragOOtic failures. Finally, it puts forward some suggestions to avoid pragOOtic failures, so that advertisements can achieve the eOOected effect.
